ROAR 5-4-3-2-1 #2

BIG APOLOGIES! I'm so sorry I haven't been updating. LOl so here's a double treat for you guys! Plus I need to catch up on my friends. ^^ Enjoy!!

The New Science Of Evo Devo: Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Sean B. Carroll

P.s. I know this book might be confusing but it's better to read it for yourself ^^. Not that hard.

5.Comments:
* The next few pages are explanations on skeletions and difference how on we as human compare to other organisms. There are a few images that help improvise what Sean Carroll ment. Photos of a snake, Falcon, Sea Turtle, dog Crane, and Cow. They reallly suprised me, because they were so different. It's was pretty interesting that we all have different limbs.
* There was a section on the appendages of a lobster which really I found cool. Really random but I really liked it. It was basiclly the transformation of the lobster. It's homologous and verebrates structures. Then again was compared to humans and a horse and mosasaurs. The teeth in a primitive verebrate.
* Beyond that section was the symmetry and Polarity. Here it's about symmetric and some examples of sea creatures were the Sea Urchins, sand dollars, and starfish. BTW, some of the pictures was drawn by Jamie Carroll, I'm guessing it's someone who's related to Sean B. Carroll. :)( just somethign I catch up on.)
* Second section was the Monsters, Mutants, and Master Gense. There was a photograph of a mutanated sheep taht had 3 eyes. Scared me a bit but anyhow, here's where the helpful information on mutantion starts. Here they give examples (true proof photographs & x-rays.) of human hands with more than 5 fingers and toes. Then the transformation of mutantion of a fruit fly, the orgins is the animal's genomes.
* Now he performs the introduction of DNA. (Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid). The Proteins, DNA and Gene logic. Here is the cell and some organelles functions that help do the task of DNA genetics for later generations. The DNA sequence of Letters that are rearranged that creates different genes for every living organism. A= Adenine T= Thymine G = Guanine C= Cytisine. These are the letters in ALL DNA just mixed differently.(I'm learning about this in BIO ^^)

4.Questions:
1. Is there any organism that does not have a symmetric line? Any at all?
2. Why is that only those letters? And really are those letters based off?
3. Does mutantion also gives the mutanted DNA to the next offspring as well?
4. So DNA is the substance that created everyone? (broad question.)

3.Vocabulary: (ALOT OF VOCAB WORDS. ^^)
*Polarity: the property or characteristic that produces unequal physical effects at different points in a body or system, as a magnet or storage battery.
*Contraptions: a mechanical contrivance; gadget; device.
* HomoGlobin: the oxygen-carrying pigment of red blood cells that gives them their red color and serves to convey oxygen to the tissues: occurs in reduced form (deoxyhemoglobin) in venous blood and in combination with oxygen (oxyhemoglobin) in arterial blood. Symbol: Hb

2.Literary Terms:
* Allusion: Many allusions to many other biologists and embryologists and many many many more. EX: James Watson and Francis Crick;s paper that modeled the genetic materials.
* Imagery: Even though there was some images, the author was also describtive about the cell which there was no photographs of. There was explanation and what teh organelles did.

1.Overview:
BIG BUNCH! I'll summerize it real short on what everything I read so far, first the skeletal explanation and comparisons. Next the structures of any organisms and symmetry of their bodies. After was short stock on monsters and mutanted organisms and how it happened. AFter was the DNA sequences and letters that symbolized the DNA forms. There is actaully alot I want to explain and tell you guys but this is too short, sorrys. Until next time.
